Don’t play Catch up
I honestly believe that starting your day off in the right way is vital in being effective. Why oh why did alarm clocks and phones invent the snooze function! What is the point of it? If you set your alarm for a certain time, then surely you did that the night before because you made a conscious decision to get up at that time…. not 10 mins later, not 20 mins later etc. I beg you, if your device allows it, turn off the snooze function. If you cannot turn it off, DO NOT use it. You will feel like you’re playing catch up from the very beginning of the day. Breakfast will be late, your work will start late, you’ll miss your exercise session or walk you wanted to do. In addition, by the time it goes off again 10 minutes later there is zero chance you have had any extra good recovery sleep. Interrupted sleep is no good for us, and if anything will make you feel worse than you did when you first woke up.
How to get up in the morning
So what can you do to make sure that you give yourself the best chance of starting your day on the right foot?
Set your alarm at a realistic time – Don’t set it for 5am if you know there is no chance you’ll get up then.
Move your phone to where you have to get out of bed to turn off the alarm
Create a morning ritual that needs to be done – stretching, walk, yoga, mindset
There’ll be plenty of other ideas, but there’s just a few to get you thinking about what you can do. At the end of the day whats right for one isn’t for another.
As always, please feel free to contact us here if you feel you need any further help with this and I’ll be more than happy to speak with you. Remember we offer all of our clients a complimentary 20 minute initial consultation, and only work with clients for 2-3 sessions after that. We are still working online at this time too.
Stay safe,
Luke
