We All Have Excuses... But Some People Just Don't Let Them Decide

Let's be honest for a second. Every single one of us has excuses.
"I'm too tired."
"I'll start on Monday."
"I haven't got enough time."
"I've had a stressful week."
"I've got too much going on."
None of these are made up. In most cases, they're completely true and it might sound strange for a therapist to agree with someone's excuses being real and true. Life is busy. Work is demanding. Children and families do need your attention. Money can be tight. Motivation comes and goes. We all have reasons why today isn't the perfect day to make a change.
The difference isn't that successful people don't have excuses. The difference is they don't let those excuses make the final decision. They acknowledge them, but they keep moving anyway.
Someone wanting to lose weight still goes for the walk, even if they're tired.
Someone struggling with anxiety still attends the social event, even though every part of them wants to cancel.
Someone building a business still sends the email, even when they're worried about being rejected.
The excuse is always there, however it just isn't in charge.
One of the biggest things I see at Cambridge Hypnotherapy is people believing they have to feel ready before they act. The truth is, you rarely do or will feel like that.
Confidence often comes after you've taken the first step, not before it.
Motivation usually follows action, not the other way around.
Our minds are incredibly good at protecting us from discomfort. Unfortunately, they don't always distinguish between genuine danger and simple change. That's why your brain will often give you perfectly reasonable excuses to stay exactly where you are, even when where you are isn't making you happy.
And one thing Hypnotherapy DEFINITELY isn't about, is magically removing every excuse from your life. It's about changing your relationship with those excuses.
Instead of believing every thought your mind throws at you, you learn to recognise them for what they are: thoughts, not instructions.
Imagine where you'd be in six months if your excuses became background noise instead of the voice making your decisions.
How many opportunities would you take and say yes to?
How much healthier would you be?
How much calmer, happier or more confident might you feel?
The excuses probably won't disappear., and will more than likely still raise their ugly little heads. But they don't have to drive your life.
If you're tired of your mind talking you out of becoming the person you want to be, perhaps it's time to stop listening to the excuses and start listening to what's possible.
Thats where we come in. Why not come along to a FREE 20 minute consultation to find out a little bit more about how we can help you start to override your excuses in as little as 2-3 sessions :)
